Congratulations to Lee Bul, who has been awarded the 9th Ruth Baumgarte Art Prize, presented at the Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin, on March 26, 2024. It is among the most prestigious prizes for artists in Germany, with a distinguished list of previous honorees that includes Nan Goldin, William Kentridge, Mona Hatoum, Kader Attia, and Michael Armitage.
Fom the press statement released by the Ruth Baumgarte Art Foundation: “Lee Bul, born in Seoul in 1964, is one of the pioneering international artists of her generation. With extraordinary sensitivity, her work explores the ways in which changes in our conceptions of the body, architecture and technology have shaped both our real and imaginary worlds.”
