Alex Dodge's new print series is currently on view in Ukiyo-e in Play at Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo, from April 22 to June 15, 2025.

 

The exhibition showcases contemporary reinterpretations of Ukiyo-e, the traditional woodcut prints from Japan's Edo period.

 

Artists from diverse fields—including manga, design, architecture, and contemporary art—along with the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints, explore new possibilities of expression and the enduring relevance of Ukiyo-e in the present day. Featured artists include Yayoi Kusama, Lee Ufan, Antony Gormley, Chiharu Shiota, Ayako Rokkaku, and James Jean.
